For Kindle Books: An Amazon account (free) and a Kindle device or Kindle reading app
How to borrow and enjoy
Go to Allen Public Library's OverDrive website. Sign in using the 14-digit number on the back of your library card (no spaces). Your PIN is the last 4 digits of the phone number you used to sign up for your card. Note: You do not need to create an account with OverDrive. Your library card number and pin are all you need.
Find an available title and click Borrow. Or, click the title's jacket to open its details page (where you can read a description, borrow the title, and more). If you are not already signed in, you will need to sign in before continuing.
If you borrow a title from the details page, the Borrow button will change to show options for the easiest way to enjoy the title on your device.
Go to your Loans page (under My account > Loans) to see all your options for borrowed titles. From there you can:
Click Read now to open an eBook in a new tab in your browser.
Click Listen now to open an audiobook in a new tab in your browser.
Click Download to download an audiobook and open it in OverDrive's desktop app. From there, you can start listening to it, burn it to CD (this option not always available), or transfer it to a supported MP3 player.
Download an eBook. Most eBooks are available in multiple download formats. Click Choose a format to select your preferred format. Note: You can only choose one download format for each title.
If you select Kindle Book, you'll be taken to Amazon's website to complete checkout and send the title to your Kindle or Kindle reading app.
If you select EPUB, the eBook will download and open in Adobe Digital Editions. From there, you can start reading or transfer eBooks to supported eReaders.
